WHEN THE STUDIO IS OUTSIDE IN AND HAS AN ENTIRELY NEW BACKDROP ...

Last month a little bit of magic happened in a wee barn somewhere in northern Germany.

This little girl -still very much in love with ponies- was asked to portrait Selma and her pony. A mission I was only too eager to accomplish.

The excitement, joy and overwhelming sense of peace felt when stepping into the yard, straw crushing underfoot, was mesmerisingly familiar.

This familiar territory opened up a flood of creative emotions.

Spilling out in spades, my creative muse directed the session like a mad conductor seeing shapes, seeking contrast, waiting for real emotions, witnessing insecurity turn into confidence as a beautiful patient equine took his Selma’s hand and led her through her whole new experience with kindness and complicity.

The images are wonderful… The little girl in me, on her way down memory lane, stopped, camera in hand, and grabbed the moments she so very wished she had caught when her own pony had led her with kindness and complicity … all those years ago.
